    Meet Rich Little

Dubbed "The Man of a Thousand Voices," Rich Little is a voice impressionist and stand-up comic coming soon to light the stages of our Isle® casino. Get to know him a little bit and you’ll enjoy his show that much more!

He was born on November 26, 1938 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. His full name is Richard Caruthers Little.

In an interview with Forbes, Rich stated that it wasn’t his intention to become a comic. He wanted to be an actor when he was a kid, but chose to start doing impressions after realizing there would be less competition. When he was a teenager, he partnered with Geoff Scott and they began performing together in nightclubs. Rich spent many years studying the voices of famous stars like Dean Martin, George Burns, Jimmy Stuart, and Johnny Carson, and he became well known for his celebrity voice impressions. One thing that makes him unique is that he can do singing impressions in addition to speaking impressions.

    Acting Career

In 1964, Rich made his American television debut on “The Judy Garland Show,” a musical variety show in which he imitated the voices of several celebrities. He appeared in the sitcom “Love on a Rooftop” from 1966 to 1967 and also made an appearance in the sitcom “That Girl in 1967.” Rich guest starred on “The Flying Nun” in 1968 and in “Petticoat Junction” in 1969. He frequently appeared on “The Tonight Show” with host Johnny Carson and appeared as a regular guest on “Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts.” He also made several appearances on “The Julie Andrews Variety Hour.”

In 1972, Rich starred in “The Kopycats,” a comedy variety show made up of celebrity impressions. In 1976, he starred in the self-titled “The Richard Little Show.” Rich has also been featured in several movies, including “Another Nice Mess,” in which he played Richard Nixon, “Dirty Tricks,” “The Braniacs.com” and “Grudge Match.”

    Charity Efforts

Rich has been heavily involved in charitable causes. He was inducted into the Miami Children's Hospital International Pediatric Hall of Fame, and Ottawa Civic Hospital named a nursery after him called the Rich Little Special Care Nursery. He has also been active in the Juvenile Diabetes Fund and the Children's Miracle Network®.

    Interesting Facts

Rich frequently imitated Jack Benny. One day Benny sent Rich a gift. It was a gold money clip with the words, “With Bob Hope doing my walk and you doing my voice, I can be a star and do nothing."

One of his most famous impressions is that of former president Richard Nixon, appearing in roles portraying the president multiple times.

In 1974, the American Guild of Variety Artists named Rich Little "Comedy Star of the Year." In addition, a Golden Palm Star on the Walk of Stars in Palm Springs, California was dedicated to him.

In 1998, he was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame.

On January 10, 2008, Rich was declared an American citizen in his hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was good friends with Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Stewart.

Rich has impersonated countless celebrities, including U.S. presidents, Jack Nicholson, John Wayne, Robin Williams, Sylvester Stallone and even Big Bird! Actor Cary Grant once said to Rich, “You have no idea what you do to people. You make them forget all their problems; make them laugh … and that is a rare thing to be able to do.”

Rich will be performing an outdoor show at the Isle® Pompano on February 20. The concert will take place on the track at Isle® and ticket prices start at $15. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. An encore drawing will take place on the casino floor at 9 p.m. for $2,500 in Fan Play.
